Everything in Deuteria is paid for in three resources and powered by a fourth. Get this page right and every other system gets easier.
The three resources
- Metal is the backbone of everything you build. The Metal Mine produces it.
- Crystal pays for electronics, ships and research. The Crystal Mine produces it.
- Deuterium is fuel: every fleet you send burns it, and so does the Fusion Reactor. The Deuterium Synthesizer produces it.
Energy decides everything
Mines need energy to run. When a planet uses more energy than it makes, every mine on it produces less, in proportion to the shortfall. Keep the grid in surplus each time you upgrade a mine.
- Solar Plant. The steady, simple source. Upgrade it alongside your mines.
- Fusion Reactor. More energy from one building, paid for in deuterium.
- Solar Satellites. Built in the Shipyard. Each one adds energy, and they give more on hot planets.
Where your planet sits matters
A planet's temperature comes from its position in the system. Cold planets get more deuterium out of the same Deuterium Synthesizer, while hot planets get more energy from every Solar Satellite. The number of fields you can build on also depends on the position, which the Planets & Fields article covers in full.
Storage
Each resource has its own store: Metal Storage, Crystal Storage and the Deuterium Tank. Once a store is full, that resource stops piling up, so upgrade storage before you need it. Full stores are also what raiders come for. Spend or move your resources before you log off.
Raising production
- Mine levels. The first lever, with energy to match.
- Plasma Technology. Better weapons, plus a production bonus for all three mines.
- Mineral, Crystallization and Fuel Technology. Each adds a flat percentage per level to one resource on every planet, with no level cap.
- Crawlers. Built in the Shipyard. They raise mine output on their planet, up to a limit set by your mine levels, and Collectors get more from them.
- The Geologist. An officer whose every level raises resource production.
- Your class and race. Collectors earn a bonus on their total production, and the Rock'tal are the mining race of the Lifeforms.
The Robotics Factory and the Nanite Factory do not raise output, but every level makes all your buildings finish faster. They pay for themselves early.
Late game: the Stellar Forge
Once your Research Lab, Energy Technology and Plasma Technology are far enough along, the Stellar Forge research harvests deuterium from each planet's spare energy every hour, without using the surplus up. The first player in a universe to unlock it is announced to everyone.
