Inspired by classic OGame, built as its own game
If you played OGame, the first screen will feel familiar. You start on one homeworld with metal, crystal and deuterium mines. You research technology, build a fleet, scout your neighbours with espionage probes and send your ships across a galaxy you share with other commanders. Deuteria is not OGame, though. It is an independent game with its own team, its own rules on top of the classic loop and its own community.
What you will recognise
- The resource triangle. Metal, crystal and deuterium, powered by Solar Plants, Fusion Reactors and Solar Satellites.
- The research tree. From Energy Technology and the three drives up to Plasma Technology, Astrophysics and the Intergalactic Research Network.
- The fleet. Small Cargo, Espionage Probe and Recycler at the start, Battleship, Destroyer and Deathstar later on.
- The missions. Attacks and joint ACS attacks, transports, deployments, espionage, colonisation, harvesting debris fields and expeditions.
- Moons. Big battles can leave a moon behind, and moons carry the Sensor Phalanx and the Jump Gate.
- Deep space. Expeditions fly to position 16 of a system to hunt for resources, ships and Dark Matter.
What Deuteria adds
A ×100 economy
Every timer runs at the economy speed, so builds that take days at standard speed take minutes or hours. Storage reaches the quintillions and fleets reach the trillions of ships.
Expeditions that pay
Resource and ship finds scale with the value of the fleet you commit. Pirates and aliens fight back, and repeat wins against the same named captain pay a Dark Matter bounty.
The Academy
Three account-wide talent trees, Miner, Commander and Discoverer, paid for with Academy Points you earn by playing.
Lifeforms
Humans, Rock'tal, Mechas and Kaelesh. One race per planet, each with a population and food economy, its own buildings and its own technologies.
Ten leveled officers
Account-wide officers you level up with Dark Matter. Every level is a permanent bonus.
A living galaxy
Autonomous empires mine, scout, raid, dodge attacks and colonise around the clock, so the universe is never empty.
Alliance wars with a scoreboard
Wars are declared by member vote, scored at every battle and ended by peace, surrender or a score threshold.
Capstone research
Late-game technologies such as the Stellar Forge, which harvests deuterium from each planet's spare energy without using the surplus up.
Fair to new players and to free players
Every new account gets a homeworld, 500K of every resource and 500K Dark Matter. Beginner protection keeps much stronger accounts off you while you grow. New commanders also mine up to 50% faster, and that bonus fades only as you climb the highscore.
Dark Matter, the premium currency, is also earned in game: on expeditions, from the activity bonus, by voting for the server on toplists and by inviting friends. When a friend you invite keeps playing, both of you receive Dark Matter. Buying it is optional, and the free-to-play page lists every source.
Is it the right OGame alternative for you?
Deuteria suits you if you like big numbers, fast progress and a deep late game. It also suits players who want a universe that keeps moving at four in the morning, because the autonomous empires never log off.
It is not the right pick if you want the original game from its publisher. In that case, stay with OGame. Deuteria runs one live universe today, Antares, with more planned. For a side-by-side view, read Deuteria vs OGame.
